Congratulations to Allisa in Georgia!!

As a three year old we took “Patty” to a sport horse clinic with the Sport Horse Judge, Dressage and Eventing instructor/rider, and former member of the Holstein Inspection committee (in both North America and Europe), Jos Severiens. He proclaimed Patty to be a “world class event prospect” and stated that he expected to see her at Rolex one day. He found little fault with her conformationally and was very impressed with her. Since starting her under saddle in late November 2011, she is proving Mr. Severiens assessment to be correct.

Patty is currently with Katie Wooten Bryant in training and will be shown in Eventing and Dressage until she is sold. She is ready to start showing at Training Level in dressage. She has been hacked out alone and in company, and happily leads the way. She is comfortably jumping 2'6" - 2'9" courses and shows aptitude for higher fences. She has schooled cross country over Beginner Novice and Novice courses and has jumped some Training Level fences. Refusal is not in her vocabulary. Katie has commented that she is one of the most trainable horses she has started and that she loves her mind. Patty will be shown in February at the Young Event Horse for 4 Year Olds at Longwood, and Katie is hoping to bring her out to a recognized event in early spring.

Patty’s pedigree certainly supports Mr. Severien’s opinion of her athletic future. She is by our home bred (now gelded) Emerald Impressions. He was recently sold to a dressage rider and will be debuting at Second Level this summer, he has competed in Novice Level Eventing, local hunter/jumper shows, as well as dressage and has proven to be a very athletic competitor that has a great work ethic and temperament who excels in any discipline. He inherits his good work ethic from his sire and much of the athleticism from his dam.

On the sire side, Impressionist is making his name as a amateur friendly horse that excels in the hunter ring or in the dressage ring. He has offspring that are winning in both events and at upper levels. His foals are sought after for those that want a horse that has the athleticism and talent to go to the upper levels of sport, but are quiet enough that a young rider or amateur can ride and enjoy them. On his dam’s side, he combines the athletic qualities of proven Thoroughbred bloodlines along with tried and true older Trakehner blood. His dam, Encore, is Emerald Acres’ foundation mare and was Anissa’s competition horse prior to being retired to the brood mare herd.

Patty’s dam is our mare, Pennant’s Valentine, who has already produced 3 other fillies besides Patty. Phiyra (by Kitfox) is showing over fences and doing well on the hunter circuit in IL, Priceless (by Kreschendo *Ps*) was recently the Reserve High Point Mare at her inspection and is being pointed at a dressage career, and Emerald Acres has a ¾ sister to Patty (by Impressionist) that was born in 2010, Pajama Party. Val is by Pennant, the ATA approved stallion out of the imported mare, Pilau, and by the great Trakehner stallion, Graditz *E*. Pennant himself was shown through Training Level in Eventing (always ending on his dressage score) and through 3rd Level Dressage – frequently earning "9’s" on his trot work. He has sired multiple offspring who have exceled in Hunters, Jumpers, Eventing, and Dressage. Pennant’s sire is the unparalleled stallion, Graditz *E*. Val is out of the thoroughbred mare Nancy Foster Wolf, who is by the stallion Medaille D’Or xx. Medaille D’Or was the 2 year old Canadian Champion in 1978 and was a stakes winner himself. Medaille D’or is out of the great mare, Fanfreleuche xx, who was a Hall of Fame Inductee in 1981. She had 11 wins as a 2- and 3- year old and was a consistent stakes winner. She was the unanimous Canadian Horse of the Year Winner in 1970, and has been the dam of multiple champion horses in North America. The sire of Medaille D’Or was the immortal Triple Crown Winner, Secretariat. In addition to his own remarkable racing record, he is proven to produce excellent sport horses, particularly for eventing and jumpers. Some of his more famous offspring are the horses Seclusive (who is the 3rd highest rated 3-Day Event Horse in the USA and is approved Zangershiede) as well as the International Jumper for the USA, Quantum Leap. For more information regarding the pedigrees of either Patty’s sire or dam, please see their individual pages. It should be noted that Patty is slightly less than half Thoroughbred by pedigree.
